Does God want us to be friends with, and hang out with, people who are not Christians? If not, how do we minister?

Just because someone is not a Christian, that does NOT mean that we shouldn't befriend them. We should view non-Christians NOT as the enemy, but as victims of the enemy (i.e.,Satan). According to Philippians 2:5, Christians are to have the same attitude as Christ , so we should be caring for their lost souls and sharing the Gospel of salvation with them, assuming they will hear it. Sadly though many non-believers, especially atheists, flat out refuse to hear The Word and will let us know in no uncerrtain terms NOT to preach it to them! When we respect their wishes and go on our way we are all of a sudden labeled as not wanting to be their "friends." My thought for you would be to get your unchristian friends around you and your Christian friends more than the other way around. That way you can be a positive influence in their lives, instead of them being a negative influence in your life.
