Evaluations

In today’s "American Idol society," the idea of an audition can be scary. This is the main reason why we call it an evaluation and not an audition. Every time you say the word “audition” to someone, a certain level of fear strikes their heart and they remember back to their junior high years when they “auditioned” for the school talent show and got booed off the stage. Then they turn white, start crying and hyperventilating, vomiting and getting weak in the knees. People, that’s not good. A little bit of vomiting is ok, but we try to keep it to a minimum. We are not here to judge talent; rather to help identify if someone has a gifting and a calling to be involved in the Praise Team here at Legacy Church at this time.  Every person interested in ministering on one of our teams must go through an evaluation. Completion of the Connect at Legacy class is a prerequisite for participating in any ministry.  So, we’ve developed an evaluation system that’s very easy and family friendly.

Here is the evaluation process:

1. Come and participate in any Tuesday or Sunday rehearsal in the Dome. 2. Have a short 5-10 minute interview with a current member?3. Do a short musical evaluation with a bunch of nice people (no singing by yourself)?4. Get your picture taken.

It’s a two week process so that we can get to know each other a little bit.

On the first week:

  • show up
  • get hooked up with a buddy that can stay with you throughout the rehearsal (we remember what it was like to be the new kid)
  • participate in the rehearsal
  • After rehearsal, we’ll have a short reception in your honor where you’ll meet some of the team and do a short 5-10 minute interview with a current member of the choir or band.

On the second week:

  • come back a few minutes early to meet with a bunch of nice people so that you can sing together.  It’s a way for us to hear you in a smaller group of people without making you sing by yourself
  • come and participate in the rehearsal
  • then you’ll be informed of what to do next!

That’s it! It couldn’t be easier!
