OUR STORY
The Beginning
On January 6, 1980, Legacy Church began as Victory Love Fellowship in a small home on the Isleta Reservation with 35 people in attendance. One year later God provided a miracle when an old Catholic Church became available. This was our second home. In 1983 our church purchased four acres of land and built a 500 seat auditorium. The auditorium was then moved to our current location. It is the largest building ever moved in the history of New Mexico. It was then later expanded to seat 1200.
Growing
In 2003 God led us to change our name to Legacy Church. Ministries continued to be developed, and in January, 2005 we celebrated the grand opening of the new sanctuary with seating for up to 2600. In 2007, Legacy landscaped our Central Avenue frontage along with adding additional parking space to accommodate our growth. In the fall of 2008 we opened a new state of the art children’s church facility. Legacy Academy celebrated the opening of their new school building in 2006 for children in K4 through 8th grade. It now has an enrollment of over 200 students.
Expanding Our Ministry
On March 29, 2009 our Cottonwood Campus opened in the Cottonwood Theatre. This allows us to reach a community at the north end of Albuquerque which also encompasses Rio Rancho and Corrales. The weekend services at the Cottonwood Campus are a mirror of those at the Central Campus with live worship and personal ministry and a message from Pastor Steve on the big screen. This theatre campus has rooms for nursery, preschool and children’s ministry through 6th grade.
This past August (2011), Legacy expanded its ministry again - this time to Albuquerque's Eastside. Located near the intersection of Montgomery and Wyoming, the East Campus holds services on Tuesday nights at 6:30pm, Saturday nights at 5:30pm and Sunday mornings at 11:00am. These services also mirror those at the Central Campus with live worship for children of all ages.
Your Role In The Story
Legacy Church is one of the fastest growing churches in the country. Many new and dynamic ministries have been and continue to be created to help minister to individuals and families. But in the midst of all this exciting activity, we recognize church health is more important than numerical growth and church programs. At Legacy, we recognize that God has a specific plan and purpose for each person’s life. That’s why “we’re all about people.” The broad scope and variety of ministries at Legacy are simply a reflection of our heart to help people of all economic, social and ethnic backgrounds in the Albuquerque area and around the world!

Legacy's Passion
Our heartbeat is to see people restored to their faith, their church, and their families. We understand that life can often deal us some hard blows. Through our numerous small groups, we give people the opportunity to get their feet back under them. We know that, through Jesus Christ, we can find the answers to all of life’s problems.
We also strive to stay true to the Word of God. We feel strongly about standing for the Truth and encouraging our church family to make a difference in our community, state and nation. We want to have a vital impact on our community.
Legacy’s Purpose is to celebrate God’s work in us and through us, connect people to God and each other and lead each individual to contribute their life and resources to ministry activities that will change our world.
