The Creative Literacy class is designed to expand children’s knowledge of literature, vocabulary, literary works, genres and overall understanding of library skills and procedures. Student creativity is greatly encouraged through classroom discussion, assignments and activities. Students are also taught to filter and select books and other media through the lens of Scripture.
In Psalm 139:14 it states, “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” This scripture is incorporated to teach students to perform physical activities to the best of their ability. The instruction is also teaching them to rejoice in who God created them to be and to safeguard the body (temple) that God has blessed them with. P.E. is designed to develop skills in each student that provide a basis for future skills and patterns. Another goal is to provide a positive learning environment and stress the joy and rewards of physical activity. It is also designed to cultivate behaviors that can last a lifetime.
The Music class is designed for students to understand basic music theory and develop a love for music as we give praise and worship to God. Colossians 3:16 says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” It focuses on the development of note-reading skills, aural skills, rhythmic patterns, intonation and tonality. Emphasis is placed on having a variety of musical experiences and learning foundational music skills to ultimately glorify God.
Technology is a great tool that we purpose to use on a frequent basis. We have a Computer Lab that houses 25 student computers and 1 administrator computer. Teachers also utilize an iPad SyncCart that has 25 iPads with teacher approved educational apps.
