Basic Requirements


  • Agreement with the Tenets and Core Values of Legacy Church
  • Actively serving as a Legacy Church team member in ministry
  • Tithing member of Legacy Church
  • At least eighteen (18) years of age
  • New staff members working directly with children will have completed the 45-hour, entry-level course or approved three-credit early care and education course or an equivalent approved by the CYF&D within the first 6 months of hire date
  • Ability to meet state and federal requirements, including background check and fingerprinting
  • Current CPR/Basic First Aid card or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire
  • Maintain a minimum of 24 hours of training each year when working over 20 hours a week



Primary Responsibilities


  • Report to director or lead teacher
  • Provide support for students and teachers in multiple classrooms
  • Know and help prepare curriculum in advance
  • Assist staff with both long- and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice, and program philosophy
  • Adhere to schedules and routines that ensure children have enough physical activities, rest, and playtime
  • Provide individual assistance for students, when needed, in classroom
  • Provide clerical support to the classroom teacher
  • Use effective teaching techniques, materials, and educational experiences to support instruction within curriculum guidelines
  • Communicate assignments and objectives to students in a well-organized manner, using clear and precise language
  • Monitor and assess student progress in order to provide feedback on a regular basis to students, their parents, and administration
  • Report specific student needs, and seek assistance as necessary
  • Maintain fair and just standards for student behavior as established in the Student Handbook
  • Aid teachers in the development of accurate, complete, and legible records as required by law and school policy
  • Communicate concerns and ideas with colleagues, students, parents, and community in a Christian and professional manner
  • Display an understanding of, and willingness to participate in, school activities
  • Meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
  • Other duties as assigned
