Director/Teacher Job Description

Basic Requirements

 

  • Agreement with the Tenets and Core Values of Legacy Church
  • Actively serve as a Legacy Church team member in ministry
  • Tithing member of Legacy Church
  • At least twenty-one (21) years of age
  • Two (2) years’ experience in an early childhood growth and development setting
  • Ability to meet state and federal requirements, including background check and fingerprinting
  • Current CPR/Basic First Aid card or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire
  • The director must meet all qualifications as outlined by the Children, Youth & Families Department, Child Care Licensing Regulations, Section 8.16.2.23 B (1), Title 8, Social Services, Chapter 16, Child Care Licensing, Part 2 of the NMAC
  • Maintain a minimum of 24 hours of training each year when working over 20 hours a week
  • Display and maintain professional competence

 

 

 Director Responsibilities (primary)

 

  • Ensure and facilitate the smooth functioning of all aspects of the Learning Center in order to best serve children and families
  • Resolve conflicts at the director level. If resolution unable to be reached, alert superintendent, or if the position is vacant, principal for input
  • Provide supervision, leadership, and support to the Learning Center teachers
  • Understand, and assist staff members to understand, developmentally-appropriate stages in Early Childhood Education
  • Ensure licensing is current and in compliance with CYFD requirements, inclusive of, but not limited to: Keeping a training log on file with the employee’s name, date of hire, position, training, clock hours, competency area, source of training, and training certificate
  • Coordinate staff scheduling within approved teacher-child ratios
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships and regular communication with parent/guardian
  • Work actively with teachers to maintain high curriculum standards
  • Assist and accept responsibility for other daily center duties as needed based on staffing shortfalls
  • Coordinate, attend, and participate in staff meetings, center events, and parent/guardian meetings as needed
  • Enforce and maintain fair and just standards based on established policies and procedures
  • Create an efficient Learning Center business by coordinating and leveraging the expertise available within Legacy Church and the Academy
  • Plan and implement a program that follows the approved curriculum standards, goals, and objectives

 

 

Teacher Responsibilities (secondary)

 

 

  • Carry out a curriculum that targets different areas of child development including, but not limited to, language, motor, and social skills
  • Use effective teaching techniques, materials, and educational experiences to support instruction within curriculum guidelines
  • Develop enrichment events and activities related to curriculum
  • Communicate assignments and objectives to teachers and students in a well-organized manner, using clear and precise language
  • Create schedules and routines that ensure children have enough physical activities, rest, and playtime
  • Monitor and assess student progress in order to provide feedback on a regular basis to students, their parents/guardians, and administration
  • Diagnose, instruct, and evaluate specific student needs and seek assistance as necessary
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and legible records as required by law and school policy
  • Communicate concerns and ideas with colleagues, students, parents, and guardians in a Christian and professional manner
  • Display an understanding of, and willingness to participate in, school activities
  • Meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
  • Other duties as assigned
