Basic Requirements


  • Agreement with the Tenets and Core Values of Legacy Church
  • Actively serve as a Legacy Church team member in ministry
  • Tithing member of Legacy Church
  • At least twenty-one (21) years of age
  • At least one (1) year’s experience in an early childhood growth and development setting
  • New staff members working directly with children will have completed the 45-hour, entry-level course or approved three-credit, early care and education course or an equivalent approved by the Children, Youth & Families Department within the first 6 months of hire date
  • Ability to meet state and federal requirements, including background check and fingerprinting
  • Current CPR/Basic First Aid card or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire
  • Maintain a minimum of 24 hours of training each year when working over 20 hours a week
  • Display and maintain professional competence



Primary Responsibilities


  • Report to Learning Center director
  • Handle operations when director is off site
  • Provide supervision, leadership, and support for the Learning Center teachers
  • Support staff scheduling within approved teacher-child ratios
  • Help teachers resolve conflicts at the teacher level, alert director when unable to resolve the issue
  • Understand, and aid teachers to understand, developmentally appropriate stages in Early Childhood Development Education
  • Work in conjunction with teachers to maintain high curriculum standards
  • Assist and accept responsibility for other daily center duties as needed or assigned
  • Meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency



Secondary Responsibilities


  • Follow a program that supports the approved curriculum standards, goals, and objectives
  • Understand a curriculum that targets different areas of child development, including, but not limited to, language, motor, and social skills
  • Adhere to schedules and routines that ensure children have enough physical activities, rest, and playtime
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships and regular communications with parents/guardians
  • Monitor and assess student progress in order to provide feedback on a regular basis to students, their parents, and administration
  • Diagnose, instruct, and evaluate specific student needs, and seek assistance as necessary



  • Use effective teaching techniques, materials, and educational experiences to support instruction within curriculum guidelines
  • Provide enrichment events and activities related to curriculum
  • Communicate assignments and objectives to students in a well-organized manner, using clear and precise language
  • Maintain fair and just standards based on established policies and procedures for student behavior
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and legible records as required by law and school policy
  • Communicate concerns and ideas with colleagues, students, parents, and community in a Christian and professional manner
  • Display an understanding of, and willingness to participate in, school activities
  • Other duties as assigned
