You've asked an interesting question. It's interesting because at face value it would seem like a fairly simple thing. If you were to only sleep at the home of the person you were dating then no, that is not a sin, unless when you were considering doing it, the Holy Spirit convicted your heart as it being something wrong and you still did it. This goes along with what Pastor Steve has been talking about when it comes to the Holy Spirit convicting us of something. Once He's convicted US of it, it then becomes sin to US. Of course if you had sex while staying the night that is sin because you two have not entered into the covenant of marriage. It would be sin for you to have sex at any location actually. On the other hand you must also consider how it looks. If you were to tell someone you stayed the night at your significant other's home, most people would assume that you had sex. They would assume that based on how overwhelming often it happens in our society. As a Christian we must strive to not put ourselves in positions that make it look like we are sinning. For example it says in Thessalonians 5:22: Abstain from all appearance of evil. When you stay the night it would appear to most people that you had sex. Another thing to consider is the fact that you are also putting yourself in a place of very high temptation for not only yourself, but also the other person in the relationship. In conclusion, is it sin? No, but it is an extremely bad idea that could very easily open the door for sin to come in.
