Hello Legacy Academy Families,

In response to today’s New Mexico Public Education Department’s decision to close all public schools for the remainder of the current school year, we will continue with our current distance learning method of instruction for our students.  We are considering what is the best decision to make for our students and families. Currently we are closed for in-person instruction through April 10th.

We are not canceling for the remainder of year at this point, because we do not know what will happen in the coming weeks. What will we use to make our decision?

  1. We will pray and ask for wisdom. James 1:5 tells us: If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
  2. We will also follow federal, state, local guidelines that would prohibit us from returning to school.

Jesus told us, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world” (John 8:23). While we have used wisdom in every decision made thus far during this situation, we don’t look to the world for answers.

I am so thankful for our Legacy Academy teachers who immediately responded to the needs of students and families when the world simply shut school doors. We have a great team that is preparing to meet the needs of your student. We will continue to be here for you and your student. Please reach out to your teachers or me directly if you have need.

Reminder that next week is our scheduled spring break and daily assignments will not be sent. Daily distance learning will begin again on April 6th.

If you need a Chromebook please let me know and the church staff will coordinate to make sure you get one.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support. I will update you as information becomes available.

In His Service,

Cheryl-Lynn Larkin
