God always hears our prayers, but there could be hindrances to receiving the answer. Daniel 10:12-14 is a great example. Daniel was delayed in receiving an answer to his prayers because of demonic influence. The Bible tells us to put on the full armor of God so we can be prepared for the devils schemes (Eph 6:10-13 NIV). That's why we need to be like the persistent widow who kept asking until she received her answer (Luke 18:2-8 NIV). If we are not receiving an answer it may be because we are asking with wrong motives in our heart (James 4:2-3 NIV). Last, we often get our answer, but it is not the answer we wanted. "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts(Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV). We need to trust that God really does know what’s best for us. The more time we spend in prayer and reading His Word the better we will know what He desires for us.
