May 4, 2020

Dear Legacy Academy Parents and Families,

In response to the Governor’s continued stay at home order, we will need to finish the 2019-2020 school year through distance learning.

Parents, students, and teachers have done a tremendous job of transitioning to this off-site model of education. Legacy Academy staff viewed this change as a unique opportunity to meet the individual needs of every student like never before, and that is exactly what we have done.  We continue in our commitment to ensuring that every student has an opportunity to achieve and demonstrate grade level competencies in order to prepare them for the next grade level.

The last day of school will be May 21, 2020. All grades will close at 3:00 PM on that day. No assignments will be accepted after that time. Report cards will be available by the week of June 1st after all Academy issued materials have been returned. Details regarding the return of Chromebooks, locker cleanout, and retrieval of any personal items that students may have at school will be communicated soon. It is my hope that after May 15th, gathering restrictions will be loosened allowing for more flexibility for parents to come to campus and take care these year end necessities. If this does not happen, we will schedule times for parents to come to campus to return and retrieve as needed.

Teachers will be providing summer material for those students they believe will benefit from extended learning and practice opportunities. Please support your child in completing this packet and bring it to school when we return on August 5, 2020.  If you would like to ensure that your student receives a summer learning packet, please notify your student’s teacher(s) before May 18 in order to provide them the opportunity to create one for you. We understand that distance learning has presented its challenges for some students and families and we are happy to provide this additional service to you.

Thank you for your prayers, support, and willingness to join us as we continue run the race set before us, and finish strong.

In His Service,

Cheryl-Lynn Larkin

Principal
